Events Assistant

Location: Sydney

At Bible Society Australia, a cross denominational charity, we have a passion for engaging people with the Bible in a language they can understand, in a format that they can use and at a price they can afford.

The Events Assistant role supports the National Events Manager in the management, production and coordination of Bible Society Australia events across Australia. These events support our core mission of translating, publishing, distributing, advocating for and engaging people with the Bible, and increasing awareness of the Bible Society brand amongst prospective individual, church and community supporters.

This role will coordinate a range of administrative tasks to support the Strategic Partnerships department. A key focus will be assisting in the planning of events for the Bible Society Bicentenary in 2017. The Events Assistant will also be instrumental in the planning and on the ground support of a National Bequest Campaign. The successful candidate will work alongside our national church and donor care teams as well as building and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders.

The role will be based in Sydney but will require travel, both regional and interstate.

Assistant Accountant

About the role

Reporting to the Finance Manager, this is a 1 year maternity leave contract with potential to extend. It is a hands-on role in the Bible Society finance team providing support for operations in Australia. Areas of responsibility include:

  • Processing of accounts receivable and accounts payable transactions
  • Banking of cheques and cash and processing into the ledgers
  • Processing bank entries and reconciling bank accounts
  • Review and follow up of outstanding debtor accounts
  • Payment preparation and processing for inventory system
  • Preparing other general ledger reconciliations and posting journals
  • Preparing monthly financial reports
  • Preparation of deposits, withdrawals and correspondence for a deposit fund
  • Assisting with other tasks as required

Job Requirements

To be considered for this role it is essential that you:

  • Are degree qualified and have at least 2 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Have strong oral and written communication skills so that information exchange is effective with internal staff, donors, management and other stakeholders.
  • Be a team player and have good interpersonal skills
  • Have excellent time management and organisational skills in order to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Have advanced PC skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of programs, in particular Excel.
  • Be able to pick up Bible Society specific programs quickly.
  • Have good attention to detail and accuracy
  • Be able to identify problems and develop proper responses (with others) to solve or mitigate problems / issues

Knowledge, Skills & Experience considered desirable:

  • Experience with TechnologyOne and/or Netsuite software
  • CA/CPA qualified or approaching qualification

National Manager – Donor Care

As our traditional donor base ages, it is increasingly important that we find new and innovative ways to identify, steward, and garner prayerful and financial support from new major donors.

About the role

This position seeks to design and implement a strategic plan for the growth of our major donor base, the stewarding of our existing major donors, and the identification of major donor prospects, including, where appropriate, bequest prospects. This position leads, coaches and manages a team of Donor Care Representatives across the country to deliver against qualitative and quantitative KPIs as described below. The position also requires the personal maintenance and growth of a major donor base.

Lead, coach and manage a team of Donor Care Representatives across Australia to deliver against KPIs described below:

  • Design and implement a robust and innovative strategy to ensure:
    • Stewardship of existing donors
    • Growth in numbers of new active donors
    • Identification of new major donor prospects
  • Ensure Donor Care team is appropriately supported with:
    • Quality marketing materials (in partnership with marketing team)
    • Relevant training and development
    • Regular face-to-face and online communications
    • Tools of trade
  • Identify new and innovative ways to source and develop new major donors
  • Manage and grow a personal portfolio of major donors
  • Use BSA’s CRM, ThankQ to interrogate database of existing supporters, identifying opportunities for growth
  • Use BSA’s CRM, ThankQ to manage team performance on a monthly basis, using a combination of activity measures and financial measures, and identify areas for improvement and development
  • Devise plans for effective and efficient workflow for the team to ensure best use of time and resources
  • Ensure team enters all activity, communications and relevant notes into ThankQ as the source of truth for interaction with our donors and prospects.
  • Lead team to embody the culture and ethos of BSA in interactions with donors and prospects.

In so doing, both offer prayerful support to donors, and seek prayerful support of our work.

Job Requirements

To be considered for this role it is essential that you have demonstrated skills:

  • Leadership and management of teams to high performance
  • Empathy with fundraisers and ability to coach them to high performance
  • Proven track record working in a senior fundraising management role
  • Excellent working knowledge and understanding of Major Donor Fundraising Programs

  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications

About the role

Reporting into the National Fundraising Manager, this role is part of the Church Relations and Donor Care Fundraising Team which operates throughout Australia. Based in Melbourne the purpose of this role is to engage with individuals to gain their prayerful, practical and financial support of BSA.

The successful candidate will be responsible for raising funds to enable BSA to fulfil its mission. This role is pivotal in identifying, qualifying and seeking financial support from individuals, businesses and the community, in person and at Bible Society events.  The successful applicant will be responsible for developing and nurturing relationships with key supporters, including major donors and bequestors, through regular communication to ensure relationship development.

Essential Criteria

To be considered for this role it is essential that you have:

  • A proven track record in fundraising and meeting financial KPIs.
  • Demonstrated experience in face to face fundraising.
  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship building and communication skills.
  • Experience managing and developing donor relationships.
  • Promotion of fundraising campaigns to supporters.
  • The ability work independently, using your own initiative.
  • A desire to further the Christian message through the work of Bible Society Australia.
  • Ability to work across denominations.

The mission of BSA is to translate, publish, distribute and engage people with the Bible, both in Australia and internationally.

We are currently looking for people who are passionate about the Bible and willing to advocate for its importance in their community. This is a great opportunity to use a small amount of your time and people skills in your church community to help more people around the world gain access to the Bible.

The purpose of this position is to be a spokesperson for the work of BSA within your church community. The objective is to build relationships, good will and partnerships to aid the ongoing mission of BSA. This includes but is not limited to-

  • Connecting with people in your church community about the work of BSA.
  • Mobilising a network of people to pray via the BSA Prayer Partners program.
  • Promotion of BSA events, fundraising and other activities in your local Christian community.
